The political stalemate that has become evident in recent years has carried out relentless attacks against the oppressed and the peoples of the world for its own existence. The system that condemns especially young people to futurelessness shows itself everywhere in the same way and form, even if countries and names change. Those who try to cover up the current economic crisis with the pandemic and justify the crisis are constantly trying to change the agenda with new attacks to suppress the voice of workers, youth, women and all the oppressed.
We have witnessed many mass workers’ actions organized by trade unions in Europe in recent years. We can say that the fear of the future that spread to all parts of society was an expression of such actions. Inequalities in the education system force young people either into unemployment or into cheap labor for industry. Young people with migration and refugee histories are particularly oriented toward apprenticeships and the service sector. While those who participated in actions like those on May Day during the pandemic were fined, the exploiters forced hundreds of workers to work in factories despite the pandemic conditions to minimize their own damage. Take to the streets on May 1st against the exploiters and in defense of our future against the system that steals the lives of youth to ensure its own continuity.
In a system that separates even the oppressed within itself, the situation for refugees and women is even more difficult. By paving the way for racist activities and the escalation of racism, the main concern of the refugees here is life itself. Refugees who are left to die on migration routes, fleeing the system-created crisis and imperialist-instigated wars cannot accommodate their lives within any borders. Refugees who apply for asylum in European countries are often treated in violation of human rights and are forced to live in inhumane conditions. Take to the streets on May 1st to defend refugee rights against borders.
The attacks on LGBTI+ and women are under the protection of patriarchy, the male face of the system. It is known that violence against women, cases of harassment and rape, and feminicides have significantly increased in European society, especially during the pandemic. It is striking that European states have tried to hide these murders from the press and the public, instead of preventing feminicides and applying criminal sanctions. Likewise, it harshly interferes the actions of women and LGBTI+ and paves the way for attacks against women and homophobia. Take to the streets on May 1st for our labor, body and self; against homophobia and misogyny.
The war launched by the imperialists and NATO to expand their borders is one of the most painful agendas of our time. The invasion launched by Russia under the pretext of threatening its borders set imperialist Russia and the Ukrainian state, which feeds the racist-fascist Nazi gangs and takes power from the NATO countries, against each other. The Ukrainian people, exposed to the most severe consequences of the war, found themselves in a war that they were not a party to. In the same period, the Turkish state, which made anti-war statements in front of the world press and shed crocodile tears saying it was against the Russian occupation, launched another invasion attack on Kurdistan. Since April 17th, the Turkish state has been carrying out attacks on Media Defense Zones and settlements. As a result of these wars, hundreds of women, youth, and children face death and forced migration. Especially in the Russian-Ukrainian war, dozens of young people were forced to fight by saying that they could hold guns and not being allowed to leave the country. Take to the streets on May 1st with our spirit of solidarity against the warmongering, unjust wars and occupation of the imperialists and NATO.
As New Democratic Youth, we will stand in the squares of May Day with the determination to fight against the exploiters and defend the common struggle of all the oppressed and the people’s youth in every country where we live and wherever we are. With the consciousness of May Day, won through the common struggle of the workers of the world, we will take our lives and our future away from the system.
